House Bill Could Further Restrict Smokers

Nearly one-third of South Dakotans smoke, but a new bill could further restrict where smokers can light up. Although non-smokers and smokers are on opposite ends, both say it's about their rights and choices.

Smoking is a habit Kathy Ferrigno has inhaled and puffed out for years. "I base it on where I go to eat, where I go to stay, if I need a hotel room."

Those places could soon be off limits to smokers like Ferrigno. Under the proposed House Bill 1075, more public places - including restaurants, bars, and casinos - could clear the smoke inside, and leave smokers puffing outside.
