EDITORIAL: 'Smoke-free' bills

Add to that list legislation that would ban smoking in most public places throughout the state. It's being introduced again this session, the fourth in a row. Like a lot of legislation, this one has both House (Delegate Barbara Frush, D-Prince George's) and Senate (Sen. Ida Ruben, D-Montgomery) versions...

We often hear the complaint that smoke-free legislation is yet another government usurpation of our personal freedom and choices. That may be true, but in the case of smoking bans, the public health issues are important enough to justify the interference.
