Perennial Favorite Has Fighting Chance In New Legislative Term, Delegate

Two local lawmakers introduced a bill last week that aims to ban smoking in all public places in Maryland.

Delegate Barbara Frush (D-Prince George's and Anne Arundel) and Senator Ida Ruben (D-Montgomery) want to ban the smoking in bars and taverns, which were excluded from the ban passed a decade ago.

The legislation, the Clean Indoor Air Act, would expand the ban to include restaurants and bars and is similar to a bill defeated in last year's General Assembly.
