Partial smoke-free laws are confusing and difficult to enforce. Nor do they accomplish what a simple 100 percent smoke-free law does, which is to protect everyone from the cancer-causing agents in secondhand smoke.

The General Assembly should go back to the drawing board next year and make all work- places, including all areas of bars and restaurants, smoke-free.
