A statewide smoking ban proposal appears to be stuck in the Health Committee.

However, a more limited ban was advanced Thursday to the full Legislature.

The committee voted 4-3 Friday against killing the bill to ban smoking in all workplaces across the state. No vote was taken to advance the measure.

The panel did advance a bill to ban smoking in all foster homes and day-care centers.
