A South Dakota state representative whose smoking-ban bill died in the 2005 Legislature says he is hearing from people who want to put the ban on the ballot.
A petition drive is a "tempting idea," said Rep. Larry Frost, R-Aberdeen, who added that he is considering it.
Any petitions would have to be ready by the spring of 2006 and would need to be signed by 5 percent of those who voted for governor in the last election. That's 16,728 signatures.
