LITTLE ROCK — A proposed ban on smoking in Arkansas restaurants is to be debated by a House panel Tuesday.

House Bill 1883 by Rep. Jay Bradford, D-White Hall, would apply to restaurants that make more than 70 percent of their revenue from food sales.

“This is a typical model that many states are adopting,” Bradford said, adding that his proposal would not affect bars or taverns...

“This is designed to protect not only the public but also address a serious problem for workers who have to work around second-hand smoke day to day,” he said.
