A proposed smoking ban smoldering in the state House still has a good chance of being passed during this legislative session, two Hall County lawmakers said.

Rep. Stacey Reece, R-Gainesville, said Saturday that questions about Senate Bill 90 and the companion measure he filed, House Bill 426, led the House Health and Human Services Committee to table both two weeks ago.

But he's hopeful the Senate proposal will be approved Tuesday or Wednesday and sent to the House Rules Committee.

A House vote on the Georgia Smokefree Air Act of 2005 could follow, with a Senate-House conference committee working out any differences.
