Gov. Mike Huckabee launched a program on Wednesday that will reward restaurants that offer healthy menu options and smoke-free eating.  Each restaurant that meets state guidelines will get a special designation that it can use in its advertising.

State Health Department director Fay Boozman says Arkansans eat half of their meals away from home.  Boozman says that makes restaurants more responsible for people's overall health than ever.  Restaurants will be able to apply through April 29 for three levels of Healthy Restaurant awards.

Completely smoke-free restaurants can earn points for healthy menu options toward qualifying for a Gold Award from the Arkansas Health Department.  Restaurants with no-smoking sections with separate ventilation systems can earn a Silver Award and those with no-smoking sections alone can go for a Bronze Award.
