Smoking Ban Bill Endorsed

A measure that would prohibit state employees from taking their smoking breaks outside state office buildings was endorsed by a House panel Wednesday.

House Bill 2684 by Rep. Sam Ledbetter, D-Little Rock, would prohibit smoking in or near all state buildings, including the state Capitol. The measure, recommended on a voice vote by the House Rules Committee, now goes to the full House.

HB 2684 is the third anti-smoking bill endorsed by the House Rules Committee this session.
