When a new law regarding smoking tobacco in public places goes into effect in Montana Oct. 1, some things are clear while other issues must still be determined...

Other areas where smoking will be banned under the law include restaurants, stores, public and private office buildings, trains, buses, other forms of public transportation, health care facilities, auditoriums, arenas, assembly facilities and meeting rooms open to the public...

George Gulden, section supervisor of the tobacco use prevention, says items not covered by the law specifically will be addresses through the rules process.

She explains the rules process includes drafting rules then having the rules open to public comment. This will be done prior to Oct 1.
