Workplace Smoking Ban Defeated -- For Now

There will be no smoking ban in all public places and workplaces in Pennsylvania -- for now.

This morning, the House Health and Human Services Committee voted on the legislation. The vote was 14-14, which means the bill fails.

"I voted yes. It was somewhat of a difficult vote for me because I'm a believer in less government, but it really became a real health issue. I heard from so many people in my district that were supportive of it because of the secondhand smoke and the people who work in the establishments have to breathe the secondhand smoke," said Rep. Katie True.

The bill will come up for a vote again, but no date has been set.
