Gov. Mike Huckabee said Tuesday that banning smoking from the workplace likely would be on the agenda if he calls a special session this year to address public education.

"While I respect the rights of people to engage in whatever legal habits and practices they wish, I do think it's time that we put a ban on smoking in the workplace and make a safe working environment for every single citizen of Arkansas," Huckabee said in a speech to the Little Rock Rotary Club, drawing a loud ovation from a luncheon crowd of more than 200.

Huckabee said after the speech that he would consult with leaders of both the House and Senate before adding a smoking ban to the call for a special session.
