Smoking Ban Bill Defeated

A bill that would have banned smoking in most restaurants and bars in South Dakota was killed today by the House Health Committee.

It's been illegal since 2002 to smoke in most businesses and public places in South Dakota. But places that serve alcohol are exempt. The bill would have removed that exemption unless they also offered video lottery.

The other exceptions were motel rooms and Deadwood casinos.
