The entire state of Indiana is one step closer to going smoke-free.

The Indiana Health Finance Commission approved draft legislation similar to the one here in Indianapolis. It would create a smoke-free environment in public places, enclosed areas of employment, and state vehicles.

The proposed bill also provides exemptions for bars and bowling alleys.

The American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society are urging the General Assembly to include every business in the ban.
