Iowa lawmakers will continue to hash out their differences on a proposed statewide smoking ban when they return to the Capitol this week after the issue faced a wild ride last week in the Legislature.

The House and Senate have each passed different versions of the smoking ban and have been unable so far to find a compromise.

The House originally passed a version that would prohibit smoking in nearly all public places except casinos. The most recent version passed in the House last week eased the smoking ban to allow smoking in both casinos and bars.

The Senate has taken a more restrictive stance.
