How does a smokefree Nebraska sound?

Publication Date: 2007-03-02
Do you like the idea of 100% smokefree workplaces in Nebraska?

LB 395 is a strong smokefree workplace bill that would include all restaurants and bars. The bill is on the agenda for this Monday, March 5th. There are not enough votes yet to move the bill forward. If we don't get enough votes on Monday, the bill will die.

We need your help TODAY to help achieve a smokefree Nebraska!

Will you help?

1) Please call your State Senator TODAY! Go to http://votesmart.org/index.htm to find your Senator and their phone number.

2)You can also email your Senator. Please find their email address at http://www.nebraskalegislature.gov/web/public/contact/senators.

3) Ask them to "Please support LB 395 , the Smokefree Workplaces bill". You will likely just be leaving a message, which is just fine. Every message will be counted!

We must make sure that our Senators understand that their constituents (that's you!) overwhemingly support making all Nebraska workplaces 100% smokefree. Thank you!

Why is it important that YOU take action today?

R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company has pulled out all the stops to defeat this smokefree bill, and smokefree supporters must help support the bill with equal vigor. R.J. Reynolds is calling all the Nebraska smokers in their database, and encouraging them to contact their Senator to vote against the smokefree bill. Nebraska lawmakers need to hear from individuals like YOU who believe that all Nebraskans deserve the right to work in a workplace that is free from toxic secondhand smoke.
