Act NOW to help keep New Hampshire bars smokefree!

Publication Date: 2008-04-24
The New Hampshire Senate will vote TODAY on HB1457, which would allow smoking in cigar bars. Last week, a Senate Committee voted 4-2 that the bill is "Inexpedient to Legislate." Despite this committee's vote of disapproval, the bill still goes to a full Senate vote.

New Hampshire's restaurants and bars just went smokefree in September. Let's give the law time to work. This bill would amend the new law to allow smoking in cigar bars, which are defined as making at least 60% percent of their business from tobacco products.

We need YOU to speak up this morning in support of keeping all of New Hampshire's bars 100% smokefree to protect all employees and patrons in these establishments.

What you can do:

Please call your Senator NOW. You can find his or her contact information at http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/ie/whosmyleg/. Urge your Senator to vote NO on HB1457. Share your support for smokefree air. All bar employees and patrons deserve the same worksite protection from secondhand smoke just like anyone else.

We must make sure that our Senators understand that their constituents (LIKE YOU!) overwhelmingly support keeping New Hampshire's bars 100% smokefree.

Thank you for taking action!
