A good example is the state's ban on smoking in public places...

At the time, Oct .1, 2009, seemed a long way off. But a funny thing about time: It passes. Now it's less than a year and one legislative session away.

It should be no surprise, then, that lawmakers in January may be asked to roll back the ban.

Sen. Jerry Black, R-Shelby, has asked for a bill draft to exempt bars and casinos from the Clean Indoor Air Act if they seek the exemption...

This battle has already been fought; the public is squarely behind the smoking ban.

We hope Sen. Black will drop this bill into the waste basket, not into the hopper.
