Montana bars and casinos go smokefree; local control restored!

Publication Date: 2009-10-01
Take a deep breath. Notice a change in the air?

The wait is finally over. Starting October 1st, the statewide smokefree workplace law will include Montana's great bars and taverns. Thanks to you, all Montana workers including bartenders and waitstaff no longer have to breathe secondhand smoke indoors.

In addition, local control is restored on October 1st, giving local Montana governments the ability to adopt smokefree laws according to the demands and readiness of their communities.

Thank YOU for working with Americans for Nonsmokers' Rights over the years to fight big tobacco and bring 100% smokefree air to Montana. We couldn't do this work without advocates like you.

Wait. Don't go anywhere. The fight isn't over yet. While you enjoy smokefree protections, workers across the country, including tribal casino workers in Montana, are left unprotected. Please consider a donation to help us fight for smokefree air laws, because everyone deserves the right to breathe smokefree air.
